For years, we offered free accounts so people could experience a cloud without ads, tracking, or a business model built around their data. And it worked. Thousands of people have been with us ever since.

But servers don’t run on good intentions. They run on electricity, maintenance, and the people who keep everything secure and answer your emails. We don’t make a cent from your data and we never will. To keep it that way, we now ask the people who use The Good Cloud to pay a fair price for the service.

As one of our earliest users, we’d like to thank you with a special first-year discount. Simply follow the instructions in your mail.

For years we offered free accounts so people could see what a privacy-friendly cloud is like. But free meant we carried the cost ourselves, and a cloud without ads still needs income to keep running. Where other providers make money from your data, we chose the only honest alternative: a small contribution from the people who share our values. That’s what keeps us independent, lets us stand by our promise, and helps us grow.

Yes. For a limited amount of time. Throughout the full 45-day decision window everything stays in place and you can keep using your Workspace as normal. Want to take your data with you instead of upgrading? Export your files before day 45. After that you lose access, and you’ll have 14 more days before your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted. To protect your privacy, we never keep data belonging to users who have left. Want to be sure you don’t lose anything? Export your data now, so you always have a copy, whatever you decide.

You have 45 days to upgrade, and you can keep using your Workspace the whole time. Don’t want to upgrade? Export your data before day 45, because after that you lose access. On day 45 your Workspace is paused. If you upgrade after that, you get access back right away. On day 59 everything is permanently deleted, since we never keep data belonging to users who have left.

We offer a few different subscriptions. As an early user you pay from €1.29 a month for the first year, billed annually. Follow the instructions on how to upgrade.

Depending on the plan you choose, you get between 10 GB and 2 TB of storage, access to documents, spreadsheets and presentations, productivity tools, and a Workspace completely free of ads, tracking and data selling. All safely hosted on our own hardware in Amsterdam, beyond the reach of foreign governments.
Yes. You can cancel whenever you like, and your account stays active until the end of your paid period. We don’t refund the remaining months, but you keep full access until that period ends.
Your subscription renews automatically at the regular rate for your plan.

Your data is hosted on our own hardware in the DC1 datacenter in Amsterdam. Because we’re a fully Dutch company, everything falls under European law and your data is never subject to US legislation like the CLOUD Act.
Yes. Your data is hosted on our own hardware in Amsterdam, stored encrypted and never accessible to third parties. We don’t analyse your files, we don’t sell access, and we don’t cooperate with requests from foreign governments. As a fully Dutch company we fall solely under European law and the GDPR, which gives you strong, legally required privacy protection with no loopholes for foreign governments or tech companies to slip through.
Google Drive and Microsoft 365 make money from your data: through ads, behavioural analysis, or by selling access to third parties. We don’t. We make our money from subscriptions. Your data stays yours, isn’t analysed, and is never used for commercial purposes. On top of that we’re based and hosted entirely in Europe, with no ties to US companies or infrastructure, so we don’t fall under US legislation like the CLOUD Act, unlike providers such as Google or Microsoft, who as American companies do.
Nextcloud is the open-source engine The Good Cloud runs on. An engine on its own doesn’t drive anywhere: you still need a body, brakes, seats and someone to keep the whole thing on the road. That’s us. We handle the server, the maintenance, the updates and the security, so you can just use your cloud. You get all the benefits of Nextcloud’s software, open-source, no vendor lock-in and safely hosted, without the technical hassle.
